About: Lindley Gray hails from Texas but now works as a Pratt Institute trained jeweler in Brooklyn. Jewelry has been a part of her life since she found her grandmother's jewelry box at a very young age. She began selling her beaded work in boutiques in Texas at the age of sixteen. Now she works mostly in metal, but often incorporates other materials such as resin or found objects into her work. Her experience working with other artists through internships in New York City has given her an edge so that she can now create thoughtful pieces that are simultaneously wearable and unique. The focus of her work will always be individuality and longevity.See Authors Posts (1) on Nov.11, 2009, under Handmade Jewelry, Jewelry Making
Here are the steps I used – to make this sterling silver, fabric and resin necklace
- Hand fabricate different sized bezels and soldering tubes to the backs.
- Use soft sterling silver wire, to go through the back and connect the pieces.
- Fill the bezels with fabric remnants in varying colors and prints
- Pour resin over the tops to create a glossy, glass-like effect.

Trends this fall still include dangly or largish earrings, but they are going slowly away from the chandelier style. Color-wise, purple and grey are very popular.
These Amethyst Kiss Earrings fit the bill for the season. They are feminine yet have an industrial feel. The mix of shiny, dark and textured silver adds interest, as do the dark and light amethysts.
When creating earring designs, artisans consider both colour and texture. In the end, they need to be a good balance of both.
Shopping from artisans ensures that you get a one-of-a-kind design (usually with a story behind it) and quality. Those are things that the Big Box stores can’t provide.
